Redding area Sailing is a popular sport and most of the activity is at Whiskeytown Lake in the Whiskeytown National Recreation Area just 8 miles west of Redding. The biggest and most popular Whiskeytown Lake Sailing event of the year is the Regatta which has been held every Memorial Day weekend. This event is hosted by the Whiskeytown Lake Sailing Club.

All events are conducted from the Brandy Creek Marina on the south shore of the lake. It is a three day event and participants come from all over California , Oregon and Nevada.
